This session of the Wikipedia Dance Project will take place on Saturday, August 17 from noon to 3pm at the Resource Centre at Canada’s National Ballet School, 400 Jarvis Street during the 5th dance: made in canada festival. Facilitated by artist and long-time Wikipedia editor Zeesy Powers, this event consists of a tutorial on editing Wikipedia for Canadian dance content, followed by a supported edit-a-thon. This is a free event and light refreshments will be provided.

Zeesy Powers is an artist interested in how the unstated rules of society impact personal experience. She is a long-time Wikipedia editor, creating over a dozen articles on women and other underrepresented artists – and contributing to many others. She regularly facilitates workshops on contributing to Wikipedia as part of the Art+Feminism edit-a-thons at arts and community organizations in Ontario and New York. Based in Toronto, Powers has worked on several complex community-based projects with organizations like UrbanArts, Axis Music Scarborough and the Toronto Public Library. A 2018 Chalmers Fellow, she has performed and exhibited internationally for over a decade. She is currently developing a series of machine-learning assisted apps for self-monitoring.
